History

Our talented and dedicated staff are proud to be Watertown's only new book store!  We have a combined nineteen years experience in selling books.  In the last year, we created this business up from scratch, from the loan process all the way to ordering our inventory and building our own cabinets.  You will see that this store displays our hard work.  We are getting more stock in every day and can special order to your desire.  Although we have found and continue finding satisfaction in creating a book store that we enjoy working in, ultimately, we built this for the community....not only for providing books, but also for a great place to come and hang out, to relax.  Our deepest gratitude goes to our supporters in Watertown and around the area.  Thank you!

Mission Statement

As booksellers, our mission is to fill a need in our local community: the need readers have to satisfy curiosities; the need restricted individuals have to broaden their horizons; the need children have in finding satisfaction of owning their own books.

Our mission is to create opportunities and desires for reading by way of strong community involvement. We aim to provide a service for our neighbors in the form of satisfaction, competency, knowledge, and, above all, love for books. As John Ruskin, a 19th century art critic, once said: “A book worth reading is worth buying.”

Overview of Industry

Book buying, a huge market worldwide, is chiefly fostered by voracious readers, who make us the general consumer base. Then built on to that base are the specific consumers such as students and professionals, and institutional buyers such as schools and libraries. They can choose from a wide range of books. This can lead to a wide variety of questions such as:

What book is the most informative on a certain subject?

Does this author come highly recommended?

Are these books part of a series?

Which book is most up-to-date?

Can a hard-to-find book become available?

Without answers to the above questions, many could find themselves in the same situation as Alice from the book, Alice in Wonderland, by Lewis Carroll: “One day Alice came to a fork in the road and saw a Cheshire cat in a tree. ‘Which road do I take?’ she asked. ‘Where do you want to go?’ was his response. ‘I don’t know,’ Alice answered. ‘Then,’ said the cat, ‘It doesn’t matter.’”

With the proliferation of millions of books, a degree of confusion is understandable. Most book buyers want a choice of titles ranging from history to science fiction, and from games to antique guides. Many readers also appreciate booksellers who know these books. Our job is to protect and promote the interests of our customers, including advocacy, education, and opportunities for fulfillment.

We are a devoted team charged with fostering the growth of a strong, efficient and professional book industry...working together with our community on the development and advancement of shared diverse, knowledgeable, and passionate goals. By way of books, we are able to bring culture and excitement to people’s lives.

With any commerce business, many consumers appreciate seeing and touching products before they buy them. Leafing through a book provides people with that fulfillment of senses. To that end, as a store we aim to keep current on all new titles and always carry long-standing bestselling books as well as award winners. In addition to keeping books in stock, our desire is to make a variety of millions of titles available upon request from our customers. For the ease of other customers we also provide online services.

By providing answers, direction, and availability of books we allow our customers respect and dignity, and give them a happy shopping experience. Because we know and love books, we can consistently deliver quality and convenient service in order for readers to be successful and satisfied. Knowing which road to take does matter. Books matter.
